If you plan to use the route between the Schwarzwald Bridge and the Wiese junction in the direction of Germany this coming weekend, you must expect significant restrictions. This route will be completely closed next weekend (23.08–25.08.2025) due to construction work.
The closure begins on Saturday (23.08.2025) at 11 p.m. and lasts until Monday (25.08.2025) at 5 a.m. During this time, northbound traffic will be diverted off the highway at the Basel-Wettstein exit. You can avoid the construction site by following Grenzacherstrasse, Schwarzwaldstrasse, and Schwarzwaldallee. Even though the opposite direction of the A2 will not be closed, only one lane will be available on that side. Due to the complete closure towards Germany and the lane restriction in the opposite direction, heavy traffic congestion is expected. Especially on Sunday, very long traffic jams are anticipated. A small silver lining for travelers, however: the construction work is weather-dependent, so it may be postponed in case of heavy rain. This would mean that the closure would instead take place the following weekend (30.08–01.09.2025).
