To clean the two longest tunnels in Styria on the A9 Pyhrn Autobahn, eight nights are required. These are the 10 km long Plabutsch Tunnel and the 8 km long Gleinalm Tunnel. The two tunnels are cleaned and maintained once a year.
Due to the expected traffic jams and inconveniences that would occur during a daytime closure, the closures for the spring cleaning will only take place at night. The operation starts on 07.04 at 8:00 PM in the Plabutsch Tunnel. Until 5:00 AM, the tunnel will be closed in the direction of North/Voralpenkreuz during the first two nights. The times for the other days and sections are also from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM. During the following two nights, starting from 09.04, the other tunnel tube in the direction of South/Spielfeld will be cleaned. The diversion route you can use during these times will lead through the Graz city area.
Starting from 14.04, the Gleinalm Tunnel will also be cleaned. For this, the tunnel will first be closed in the direction of Spielfeld/South for two days, and on the following two days, it will be closed in the direction of Voralpenkreuz/North.
In addition to cleaning, some maintenance work will be carried out, and road damage will be repaired.
