If you are on your way to vacation and would like to use country roads due to increased traffic volume, you must observe the rules regarding the driving ban for transit drivers in Austria. This year as well, the exit restrictions apply, which already came into effect in April and will remain in place until 02/11/2025. These exit restrictions affect numerous country roads that transit travelers often like to use as an alternative to the highway.
The driving bans were imposed for Tyrol because the diversion of traffic onto the country roads poses a heavy burden on local residents. The aim of the exit restrictions is to ensure road safety, maintain a steady traffic flow, and relieve the residents. To make sure you do not violate the ban, here you will find a list of the affected country roads. Nevertheless, we kindly ask you to check for possible changes before your trip:
As a car or motorcycle driver, you may therefore not use the country roads between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. on peak travel days (Saturdays as well as Sundays and public holidays). This driving ban can especially affect transit travelers on their way to Lake Garda.
