The Landeck Tunnel in Austria is located west of Innsbruck and east of St. Anton am Arlberg in Tyrol. It can be reached via the B180 road. It is a single-tube motorway tunnel on the A12 that connects the Upper Inn Valley to South Tyrol via the Reschen Pass. The tunnel is sometimes referred to as the Landeck South Bypass. Its purpose is to reduce traffic in the municipalities of Landeck and Zams in the Tyrolean Oberland. The tunnel connects the Reschenstraße (B180) with the A12 Inntal Motorway. Unlike some other tunnels, the Landeck Tunnel does not require a separate route toll (special toll), as it is not considered a special toll route. However, since it is part of the A12, a vignette is required. In contrast to most tunnels in Austria, the Landeck Tunnel has only one tube with two lanes — one for northbound and one for southbound traffic.
There is no separate route toll (special toll) for the Landeck Tunnel. However, a vignette is required. The digital vignette can be purchased from our online shop. This means that while the Landeck Tunnel is subject to toll, no additional special toll is charged.
The Landeck Tunnel can be bypassed. Here is a scenic alternative route, which may be helpful in case of traffic jams. From Landeck, take the L76 road. As a bonus, this route runs directly along the River Inn. Bypassing the tunnel this way takes around 20 minutes (10 km), whereas the direct route through the tunnel takes about 10 minutes (also 10 km).
Whether bypassing the Landeck Tunnel is worthwhile depends on your direction of travel.
