Both Vienna and Tyrol are expected to be very busy this coming weekend. Due to several events – including extensive construction work on the Südosttangente (A23), two likely sold-out concerts at the Wiener Stadthalle, as well as numerous Christmas markets – tens of thousands of visitors are expected. Additionally, the trade fair “SENaktiv” will cause extremely heavy traffic on the access roads around the exhibition center.
Between the Prater junction and the Kaisermühlen junction, lane closures will occur from Friday, 14 November 2025, 22:00, until Monday morning, 17 November 2025, 05:00. During the day (09:00–22:00), two lanes will be available towards Hirschstetten, while at night (22:00–09:00) only one lane will be open. Significant congestion is expected from Friday evening onwards, especially on access routes such as the Danube Shore Motorway (A22), the S2 expressway, as well as around the Reichsbrücke and the Prater junction area. It is recommended to use alternative routes.
On Friday, 14 November, the US band Big Time Rush will perform at the Wiener Stadthalle. The band is well known from the Nickelodeon series of the same name and songs like “Boyfriend,” “Superstar,” and “Til I Forget About You.” On 15 November, the British cult band Jamiroquai led by frontman Jay Kay will follow, known for hits such as “Virtual Insanity,” “Cosmic Girl,” and “Canned Heat.” Both evenings are expected to attract up to 14,000 visitors.
The strongest traffic caused by the concerts is expected shortly before the events begin (Friday around 20:00, Saturday around 19:30) and after they end. The Neubaugürtel, Hütteldorfer Straße, the streets in the Nibelungenviertel, and Burggasse are likely to be particularly affected. Public transport is recommended; otherwise, the Stadthalle garage, Lugner City garage, and Märzpark garage offer good parking alternatives.
In addition to the concerts and road closures, the “SENaktiv” fair will also take place in Tyrol this weekend. It is considered the largest senior citizens' fair in western Austria. The exhibition focuses on topics such as health, exercise, leisure, travel, and living in old age, with around 10,000 visitors expected, as well as more than 130 exhibitors. The heaviest congestion is expected before the fair opens and after it ends – around 10:00 and from 17:00 onwards – particularly on Ing.-Etzel-Straße.
If you plan to be in Vienna this coming weekend, you should avoid the Südosttangente between the Prater and Kaisermühlen junctions as much as possible and use public transport when attending events.
